Report on P2P Introduction to Virtualization

Timing: 4:00pm – 5:15pm

Day 1

The Workshop on virtualization started on 30th September 2016. On Day 1, Mr. Nicky Mathew was handling the session which explained about what is a data centre, what is virtualization, the needs for virtualization and finally the types of virtualization. Participants were completely new to the topics and hence session was really helpful.

 

Day 2

The Session started by evening 4:30 which continued till 5:15.The day continued with Types of hypervisors, Type 1 Hypervisor, Type 2 Hypervisor, Microkernel Hyperviso, Monolithic Hypervisor, Features of Virtualization and last with Working with VMware workstation. All participants said that session was fruitful.


Day 3

By 4:30 the third day session was started with explaining how to work with VMware workstation. It also included Snapshots, Networking in Workstation and also the overview of Microsoft Hyper-V. No practical sessions could be conducted for Hyper-V due to system constrains.

Software Used

  • VMware Station 12 pro
  • Ubuntu-16.04-desktop-amd64.iso
  • Microsoft Hyper-V

At the end the session was concluded with great satisfaction. All the participants were very much satisfied and clarified with the concepts about Virtualization.
